GILWELL 24 2010

Saturday July 10th saw a major scouting event supported by the East Herts branch of the AWGB with assistance from the Cambridge branch. The display and hands on activity was a real triumph and the Branch must be congratulated for their organisation of the woodturning marquee. Seven lathes, each manned by an experienced turner, were used to give 120 scouts a woodturning taster during the day. Great interest was shown by the scouts despite all the other attractions and sporting events available.

WOODWORKS @ DAVENTRY

Our Tudor Rose Branch gave us a two great days out this week end with their Spring Woodworking Show. It was well attended with a good range of Traders and a number of clubs showing off their activities and taking part in various competitions the event also included demonstrations by a number of professional turners. Well done Tudor Rose.

With Turn East on this year as well, is this the shape of things for the future in the regions?  Could we expect to see similar things happening in the North and South West soon?
